Lidl cycling offers from this Sunday include:- Crivit track pump £6, Crivit USB rechargeable light set £13, outdoor bike covers £3. The pump and lights are excellent VFM and good quality - bought both when last available. Not sure I want a heated saddle though.....Bizarre!

Hope your Crivit track pump lasts longer than mine did, which packed up after 6 months. Got it refunded tho.
I then bought a Lifeline Essential track pump from Chain Reaction, which seems much better quality, but it was twice the price.

**** EDIT: ALL SOLD****
Evans have got Restrap’s 8L seatpack on clearance at £62. Excellent holster style bag for around £25 less than the next best price. Will take a larger dry bag too so quite versatile. Click the Cyclechat affiliate link and search ‘restrap’ - it’s the only one they do.

"When you buy a thru axle do you get the "skewer"?

No, you won't because there is no thru axle standard

Geez they know how to charge for them..... Some are properly expensive.
This is the cheapest I've found. at £20

Any thoughts on Brand X stuff? - I need a new one because the one that came with my Boardman Team FS is made of cheese the bit you push against to tighten the wheel is bent and damaged.

They’re okay but the levers can rattle a bit. You may need a spacer on the lever side too as they’ve obviously had to try and accommodate the surprisingly wide range of interpretations of the ‘e-thru’ standard.

Mine has been going for over a year and still works perfectly, and will easily inflate to 80/85 PSI, which is all I need as I don't run anything narrower than 28's and most of my tyres are 35+ or 26" MTB, so don't use mega high pressures. I keep my Lidl receipts for bike/DIY stuff anyway so I can claim on the warranty if it fails. Also do the same thing for "value" kettles etc from the supermarket in case the things pack up within a year.

Noted, thanks.

Half the problem with the existing device is that it wants to tighten and nip up naturally right where the fork leg is which gets in the way and means you push against only a small bit of the rim.

A washer might actually alleviate the problem and be cheaper.

Mine, bought in italian lidl as i remember, exploded on first use. Super cheap track pumps a bad idea I think. Congrats on the lifeline. My day to day track pump cost around £15 from edinburgh bike co-op. It's good but may get cbucked if it starts to play up as can't be opened up for greasing seals. Ideally track pumps should be servicable a la topeak's and if so I can see them lasting a lifetime - cheaper in the long run. And greener of course.

I do have a back up pump, an old PCL brass foot pump, which i recon is older than me. This thing is built like a tank.
But its a hassle to have to use screw on adapters to my presta valves when using this pump.

It sounds wonderful - i love old machined household implements. Would love to see a pic but would divert the topic I suppose.
