I've just received a new Cateye Volt 300 (£34.99 from Evans) and it has that mode too. Just charged it up so maybe give it a try in the morning. Impressed with the build quality and seems to have decent battery life too.
Bought this last year, along with the Volt 50 for the back. Great set of lights. Highly recommended!

Does anyone know if those Lezyne lights have the mode where it is steady, but has an additional bright flash.
That is, it combines steady and flashing in one unit?

I've just received mine this morning and I'm really pleased with it, but it's either steady or flashing - it doesn't appear to have a mode where it'll do both at the same time.

Thanks. I already have a decent bright light, so I'll pass on these ones in that case.

Received my 400XL this morning.... Definitely not suitable as a helmet mounted light, IMO its just a tad too heavy but its built like brick - I have no doubt in my mind that i could take someone out with it if i threw it at them hard enough. Great light for the bar! my Cree Q5 is rated at 350Lum but this 400XL is like a laser cannon!!!

Well.... It depends on your definition of 'bargain' but heres 50x AAA Duracell Industrial batteries for £14.67

It will take you at least 2-5years to burn through 50 of these if youre just using them for your lights.

Optionally, you could just buy 10x for £2.50

These batteries are rated quite highly by most users. Perfectly suited for bicycle lights as they tend to be low-mid drain.

I have been using nothing but these religiously for years and they have never failed me!

You could always pay £11.24 for 24x Duracell Ultra Power though, but they are more or less the same battery as the Industrial/Procell with a different wrapping in a different coloured box.

Its coming to christmas soon, so better stock up on these to avoid tears of disappointment when little jimmy gets his new RC car and cant play with it cuz theres no batteries in the house

I'd suggest them for low drain, or very occasional usage at mid drain only. And your RC car example likely wastes 75% capacity.

Any bargains on rechargable batteries... I prefer them for lights so that I don't mind not getting my money's worth out of a battery, and can just have a cycle of charging them every now and again depending on whether it's the front or rear light.

Better little jimmy can play with his RC car for 30-40mins then nothing at all.

Anyway - arguments aside, Its what works for me and you get 50x These are perfect for a flashy, probably not so much a constant unless it was a low powered one.

I'm not a fan of disposal batteries: source of fairly toxic waste.

Anyway, when I need rechargeables, I usually head to https://www.7dayshop.com/rechargeable-batteries and see what's there.

Good-to-go are probably best for lights at least in summer. I dare say the emergency rechargeables I've been toting for 6 months are completely flat now. But beyond that normal behaviour of NiMH batteries, I've found their home brand batteries very reliable. And - OMG - just found my "Welcome to 7dayshop" email from Aug 2005!

I bought a pack of 4 Uniross rechargables early this century. They are still getting some use.

I still use disposables for remote controls and smoke detectors.
