My wife was worrying about always buying cheap and second hand stuff and that people thought she was a skinflint for always going for the deals. I took the opportunity to reassure her that it's fine and to ask her how she liked this jacket I was thinking of buying .

Jacket paid for on Monday, arrived Wednesday. Only downside being the note I added to the paypal payment was ignored so I found the jacket left behind a wheelie bin by postie rather than in the post at work.

The jackets are well worth £40 squid. I wouldn't pay £140 for a jacket. I think these jackets will work well between minus temps and about 10c as they are breathable. I've got a windproof thermal that you can't use until temps drop below zero, as you cook. Tested to minus 15 though !

Moon X Power 300 front rechargeable light £38.65 & TCB cashback http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-sh...able-lights/moon-x-power-300-front-light.html

I've had this light for 6 months now and also have Smart Lunar 25 & 35. They only get used in the daytime now as they are just not sufficient for riding unlit roads at night.

I'd say the XP 300 lights up the road to avoid the shocking amount of potholes AND in front up to about 40 metres which is plenty to keep up a good pace.

I use it on flashing in built up areas 80% of the time and the battery lasts ages. Low battery indicator when 30 mins left and I charge about once a fortnight. Easy to change modes even with gloves. Lights up signs up to 100 metres away so absolutely no sensible chance of SMIDSY.

2 people have given me abuse. One was a fat bint on a moped who took the effort to slow down and shout at me. Another flashed me although only one of his headlights were working. Idiots.

You can get Chinese lights that may be cheaper but generally they aren't USB rechargeable and the brackets are crap.

2 of these would be sufficient for off road with the added bonus of not having a bulky battery pack.

In summary I thoroughly recommend these!

If you are an Exposure Lights fan, Rutland Cycles have some great deal on the 2013 models at the moment.

52% off on the Joystick mk7, lanyard & helmet mount at £79.99
48% off on the Joystick mk7 & lanyard at £74.99 (just bought 2 more (one for myself & one for my OH) because they are cheaper than the pigback batteries and allow me to use my remote switch which the additional battery pack won't and my existing Joystick does not last commute over to help my parents out - at least it does not last there & back, so I have been nicking my OH's joystick when he is not cycling to work:whistle:)

Thanks for the above! have now ordered one. Im going to stop looking at this thread, as I keep buying stuff I dont need...

I ordered my 2 on Monday, delivered on Wednesday am, used one of them yesterday! The ones without any mounts at all came with 2 chargers, a mains charger and a usb charger, means I can now leave one at my mothers & my OH leave one at work...
