Moon X Power 300 front rechargeable light £38.65 & TCB cashback http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-sh...able-lights/moon-x-power-300-front-light.html

I've had this light for 6 months now and also have Smart Lunar 25 & 35. They only get used in the daytime now as they are just not sufficient for riding unlit roads at night.

I'd say the XP 300 lights up the road to avoid the shocking amount of potholes AND in front up to about 40 metres which is plenty to keep up a good pace.

I use it on flashing in built up areas 80% of the time and the battery lasts ages. Low battery indicator when 30 mins left and I charge about once a fortnight. Easy to change modes even with gloves. Lights up signs up to 100 metres away so absolutely no sensible chance of SMIDSY.

2 people have given me abuse. One was a fat bint on a moped who took the effort to slow down and shout at me. Another flashed me although only one of his headlights were working. Idiots.

You can get Chinese lights that may be cheaper but generally they aren't USB rechargeable and the brackets are crap.

2 of these would be sufficient for off road with the added bonus of not having a bulky battery pack.

In summary I thoroughly recommend these!

I'm not sure a light like that should really be used in flashing mode

I ordered my 2 on Monday, delivered on Wednesday am, used one of them yesterday! The ones without any mounts at all came with 2 chargers, a mains charger and a usb charger, means I can now leave one at my mothers & my OH leave one at work...

Not as good as the Joystick - but just seen this: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/102174/products/exposure-blaze-rechargeable-rear-bike-light.aspx
I think I might get one of these also!

I have to confess to preferring my Cateye TL-LD1100 for a rear light. had one for years & years and it has never let me down and it has been through the worst weather that Wales, Ireland, Scotland and several months of Norway/Sweden & Finland has thrown at it.

Yes ive got one too for my commuting bike - but want something not as bulky for my road bike. You can never have too many lights!!!!

Agreed- the flash is too much, I tend to use it as my main light and have another light set to flash next to it.

I'd also argue that it can be used happily to be used on unlit roads, I have done hundreds of miles this winter and last in pitch black with this set to low- maybe I just ride slower though?

I snagged a pair of Pearl Izumi waterproof gloves marked "P.R.O. Barrier" from a similar thread on SingleTrackWorld last month and have been very impressed with their quality. I even used them when washing apples whilst cider making and all digits remained warm & dry.

Varium turned up yesterday, but alas was not the desired size. Arranging an exchange with Leckies; luckily stock still available, despite their evident popularity. As noted above, hopefully they'll keep a keen eye outfit more cycling-related items.

Well thanks to this thread I have a couple of jackets on route. They have run out of medium red ones now though...
