If you need one immediately (with postal strike imminent) this is remarkably similar - if not the same (anyone know?) as the Tesco 3 LED rear light, currently £3.30.

Wilkinsons do a set of 1 front and 1 rear light, 3 LEDs each, for £6:57. The rear light looks to be identical to the Smart one (except of course that it doesn't say ;"Smart"). I've got a set I bought a couple of months ago, and I'm pleased with them.

Edit: These are they...

Another edit: I think one of the good features of these lights is the built-in reflector which remains fastened to the lens. The 3 LEDs poke through holes in the back of the reflector. Most of the other cheap LED lights don't have a reflector.

And yet another edit: Just to make it clear, I didn't buy them mail order (hefty postage for just one item). I saw and bought them as a bit of an impulse when in my local Wilkos.

I forgot to say thanks to the people who recommended sources for cheap tubes. I've ended up ordering some from Ribble. In their current sale (ends today!) most decent tubes are under £3 if you spend £50.

Cheers,
Matthew

EDIT: So, has anyone got the those PBK tights then?

Overdrive in Airdrie have a good selection of bike accessories, but what caught my eye was the SPD shoes- unfortunately all in smaller sizes (6-8) and limited stock, but pretty cheap (around £30).

Hi Guys,

Blacks are giving a 20% discount on all jackets brought through their online shop. Simply enter "jacket20" at the checkout. Offer is open until midnight 4th November.

Not really bike specific, but if anyone is looking for a nice jacket ready for winter.

My local Aldi has reduced some of the kit it had in the recent bike gear special (about a month or so ago) - ie the left over stock they didn't sell at the time. The waterproof jackets which were £19:99 are now £13:99. The winter jackets which were £14:99 are now £9:99. They've knocked a pound of a few other items (lights, gloves, etc), but I can't remember how much they are. (However, avoid the lights set - the front light is green).

The clothes tend to be the smaller sizes, which never sold in the first place. I don't know if this is happening nationwide in Aldis, but if you were thinking of adding to your stuff, it might be worth a visit.

I went into the preston one about three weeks ago and got a bargain rucksack ideal for cycling. Should have been £30 and got it for £20, as shaun says it worth checking your local outlets (if they are still open).

Bicycling magazines book "Illustrated Bicycling Maintenance" by Todd Downs is for sale at "Best Sellers" book shop for £4.99. Not sure if its a national company, but other cut price book shops may have it

WH Smith is selling it for £16.99 and Amazon £11.89

I bought my copy from the Prospect centre in Hull, next door to WH Smiths were I first saw it and fancied a copy but it was too pricey and just walked into "Best Sellers" by chance and saw a great pile of them so snapped one up.

Halfords bike bargain

Called in at our local Halfords to to use a gift voucher and noticed they were selling the Carrera Gryphon Disc 08* small at £160 (originally £399), plus a £20 voucher for accessories. Although the frame is small, the top tube is longer than usual to compensate for the straight bars. Once the saddle was raised it fitted perfectly. Whatever we might all think about Halfords, this bike is definitely a bargain. The manager said he couldn't believe the price when he printed the ticket out. It might be worth checking if there are any in other Halfords stores.
*Gets very favourable review on Bikeradar.
