Which pedal is that - the PD-A530?

If so I bought a pair a far while ago in a sale for substantially more.

Never fitted them so don't know what they are like in use - I bought them to use instead of that other sodding SPD/flat pedal of Shimano's which is very good but after buying two sets I decided is a total NONO as you need an expensive tool to service it - last time I checked this small tool costs more than those pedals you've highlighted wakou! So unless you "invest" in that tool what you have is an expensive pair of disposable pedals.

No, they're the PD M530 dual sided trail pedal I linked to, except they were £15.99 when I linked to them.
I feel your pain and anger Blue Hills, my philosophy is if you want flat pedals fit flat pedals, if you want SPDs fit SPDs. My son can swap pedals over in about 2 minutes...... is that really worth the nonsense of flat/SPD combinations? Besides which I paid about £50 for the XT M785 version of the pedals I linked to and love them. Worth the extra? Probably.

I feel your pain and anger Blue Hills,

Off to check effective difference between M530 and A530 - I stress that I have no problems with the A530 (tho not used as yet).

These:

are the ones to be avoided at all costs. Note that Chain Reaction describes them as "servicable" - an oversight on their part in not giving full details.

I actually think double-sided flat/SPD pedals have a real place - I use them on a round-town part-time tourer - it's nice as a change to use hard-soled shoes - couldn't be bothered with changing the pedals over for a trip to town and I could hardly do it on tour - of course if I had your son on standby it might change my mind

Me too, I have them on my 'proper' bike, so can clip-in when out on a 'proper' ride with the club etc, but I can also wear trainers when popping out to pub/shops/ commute to work etc.
Also from a merely nerdy POV, why have the extra weight/expense of duplicate mechanisms, when one would do the job? Like providing a body with an entirely un-needed extra organ..... Oh wait a minute, why am I carrying this superfluous kidney about? At least 150g of clutter. I'm off to E-bay to flog my spare....

Ah, now you see, those 324 look so horrible I'd never have contemplated putting them anywhere near my bike!

The PD A530 might just about be OK, but it depends on the internals. The 324 is likely to be based around the ever-recommended M520.... plastic bushings and, as you suggest, disposable. Every time anyone ever asks the "What pedal" question people fall over themselves to recommend PD 520  . Now, when I rule the world it'll be illegal to sell them, and anyone found recommending them will be sentenced to being shagged with a rag-man's trumpet. Yes they're cheap, but they are seriously nasty.

I like the look of the M530, and the A530, but I found the M530 pretty heavy when I picked a pair up. As a consequence I shopped around on the internet and bought a pair of XT PD M785 trail pedals for my MTBs, and simply cannot fault them. They cost less than £50, and that extra twenty quid or so is absolutely worth it.

On my road bike I have a pair of PD A600. Touring SPDs with a pedal surround. Again, shopped around and price-matched to get them for £50.

Where am I going with this particular rant? Who knows, but those 530s looked to be a bit of a bargain!
I've had a pair of those on my do-it-all bike for about seven years. Faultless throughout with no maintenance.
At risk of sending the "bargain" thread off, my advice is if you like them (and I do to use - just not long term) and if you may even get another pair for another bike I'd maybe get that tool so that you can maintain the bearings - I think the bearings/cones are shot in my old ones so it's too late - when the second pair goes I'll dump them.

Ordered one of the Smart lights at 4pm yesterday. Checked online today to see whether it had been dispatched and despite ordering while it said there was "10+ in stock", it's created a back order for me because they've got none available.

Odd; I ordered one after 8pm yesterday with standard delivery and got an email this morning before 9 a.m, stating that it had been dispatched.

I remember reading here a while ago that Clarks brake pads were on sale. Does anyone know where I can get them?
