Not so much a bargain as such but a cycle shop which gives excellent service at a good price.
Last week the inner tube in my front wheel went bang. 80psi, five patches and a 3/8" split in the tyre and the inevitable happened. Anyway I decided on a new pair of tyres and tubes, Continental City Contacts. As the spokes were red with rust, I thought I'd get the wheels respoked with ss spokes. I went to a local bike shop which seemed to have a good reputation. "How much?" "£35 + VAT for labour plus the cost of the spokes - each". "Jeez" I thought.
I phoned around and got to meet Jeff of Motorhouse, 48 Holborough Road, Snodland, Kent ME6 5PB (01634-246153). "About £35 per wheel max" he said. "And it'll take about a week". 24hrs later and I get a phone call to say the wheels are finished. They are now immaculate. The hubs have been polished and the rims look like new. And only £25 each wheel.
My bike now looks 100% better with better wheels and new tyres. Good man!
