I went into the local Aldi tonight. The young lad on the checkout noticed my red England away 1982 WC shirt. Then he said he'd seen me in other retro shirts which he liked. It's nice that someone mentions such things as i sometimes think "why bother no one notices 'em". He told me that his dad went to the 1982 WC supporting Northern Ireland. He seemed quite knowledgeable about the event,so i don't think he was bullshooting.

Free kicks: I presume refererees become, with experience, good judges of 10 yards (metres, or whatever it is) for postioning the wall at direct free kicks.

Questions:
1) Any of yous have experience of refereeing? Are the strides the ref takes to measure usually accurate?
2) In this electronic age, do refs have access to any tools to help them measure?
3) Do you know of any glaring examples of when refs got it wrong?
