Just nabbed from the Guardian live reporting...

4.00pm: "The best place to watch Tour in Paris is on the corner where the riders emerge from the underpass under the Tuilleries and turn left into la Rue de Rivoli," says John Oxley. "This corner becomes Norwegian territory for the entire day; a nearby beer tent guarantees free flowing beer and the resulting empty kegs (for the Norwegians drink VAST quantities of lager) are organised into a makeshift grandstand. With Thor and Edvald having such a good Tour, this particular corner of Paris will be totally wild." You can say that again. Two stage wins in a row for Norway.

the best place to watch is from wherever you get to at eight in the morning, hopefully armed with camping stools, sandwiches, drinks and a large opaque bottle

The bar opposite the hotel will have seats if you need them - no need for camp stools. Café cognac svp.

I'm starting to worry. Day before the ride, approaching 7pm and I'm still at work. I fear a repeat of of last Friday — home after 9pm. Boss has already been told that if I'm not let out at 5pm tomorrow words will be had!

I suppose I really ought to start to clean Suffolk from the VN in preparation for this ride....

Good idea, wouldn't want any cross-county contamination, especially heading so far south of the river.

You fillip glibly, and yet underestimate the potential seriousness of the consequences.:tongue:

Did I really just say that?

Yes, you did. Quoted for evidence posterity.

I just had another atrocious commute. It was bad enough my brakes decided not to play nice in the rain, but I came within a split second of either being run over or cycling into the back of a parked car at around 25kph. I'm stressed out enough to begin with, and the commutes just aren't helping. I am seriously considering bailing on Thursday night's ride (and the next few commutes). We shall see.

Adrian's analysis is correct, as usual. Andrij. we all know it was the wrong type of rain so make amends, fill the 'bidon de poche' and get yourself in line for tomorrow night. It's a good ride.

Bother! I've finally remembered to check in.

Maybe I'll get lucky and TheClaud will have that remaining ticket, otherwise Groupsave. In other news, I've got a Carradice bag and q/r thingy I'll be trialling tomorrow night. It won't help my attempts at travelling light but the setup looks so much better than lugging a rucksack.

Good *whisper* w e a t h e r forecast. Prayers answered :thumbsup::biggrin:
