Reason for asking is, I went to a chippy yesterday (1st time in over 12 months) and on their 'specials' board was fish, chips plus any 2 sauces.
Got me thinking/wondering what 'goes' with fish n chips
The only thing I have on mine is salt and vinegar. Maybe Tartare sauce if its a sit down meal.

Either ketchup or brown sauce depending what I get as not always fish.

‘Salt and sauce’ seems to be the thing in Edinburgh.

Mushy peas is not a sauce, it's a vegetable!

Curry sauce is a sauce, the clue is in the name farkwit!

Tartare sauce for me, although ketchup acceptable with chips, but not smeared on your cod.

A little Tartare for moi with Fish-n-Chips. Don’t want to drown the taste of the fish out though……

Just Chips ? Either just lashings of Salt and Vinegar. Or same with a little red ketchup on the side.

We are spoiled here in Lowestoft being a sea-side Town with a (Now small) Fishing fleet. And me and the wife take every opportunity to exploit that…..

There's never a place for mushy peas xx(

I'd consider brown sauce but generally just salt and vinegar.

There is a good place for mushy peas

The Bin!!

Yuk

to actually answer the question

Ketchup
so that's sorted (tomato obviously) unless there is curry sauce which overrides it

BTW - when I lived in North Wales a lot of the chip shops started to get some "fruity curry sauce" which was lovely
stopped after a few years - but it was much nicer than the normal mild version

anyway - that is the correct answer - all others are wrong

so that's sorted

next!
