Pleasure? Who gave you the idea that riding a bike was supposed to give you pleasure?
I was out yesterday morning and the route I took was half road from my house through to the other side of Doncaster then back off road along the transpenine from Bently through sprotborough and finishing with a good climb up and across the old railway viaduct at Conisborough.
My pace was half reasonable on the road section and the new bar ends made a big difference both in comfort and climbing as they have given me the confidence to challenge myself and stand instead of going up and down the gears and for the first time I found myself powering up the hills.
The off road bit on the way back was more of a leisurely pace as despite what they say the hybrid is more built for road riding so I stayed around 12mph which was slow enough to take in the scenery and exchange a good morning to other cyclists ,joggers and dog walkers who were also using the trail .
The last climb up to the railway bridge usually sees me on the small front ring and hanging at the top was another test for standing and it put a big grin on my face when I was still on the middle ring when I got to the flat again .
Back home in not a perticular fast time, 1hr 5 but 13.5 miles of pure pleasure and all afternoon at work it left me feeling fired up and full of energy.
Yep I love this cycling its a great hobby and I'm getting fitter while enjoying myself ........bonus
