Films that you've never seen.

after being forced to watch Turner and Hooch by a couple of dog lovers... I've avoided most Tom Hanks' films ever since, which is nice

There are tons of films I've never seen. That's not from some kind of highbrow "that film is beneath me" thing. I've not taken active steps to avoid them just haven't seen them. I don't watch films often enough to get through them all.

As I mentioned on the other thread, I was pretty sure that I'd seen Jaws. But when I watched it last weekend I realised that I was mistaken. But I'd seen enough clips from it, memes from it, and enough similar films to have built a convincing but false memory of having seen it in the 70s/80s.

There are 38 in that first 50 that I haven't seen:

I've seen almost all those. I can honestly say that 12 of them considerably enriched my life (some dark, some funny. some just beautiful or heart-warming). I would recommend those 12 to any adult.

It will forever baffle me that Shawshank is top of the IMDB list. It's not that it's a bad film, it's just alright and I am instantly wary of anyone who thinks it's the best film ever.

Yes there are a ton of films that I've been in the same room as but not actually watched.

I would say all of them, but that isn't quite true, I've seen a few Laurel and Hardy and some others that were on telly when I was a sprog, but don't ask me to name them. Never been in a cinema.

I know this isn't the "films that you had never seen but have now" thread, but I saw the Sound of Music for the first time recently.

It was better than Jaws.
