Price matched £50 up yeah, maybe i should just go give them the difference and then everyone will be happy. Didn't realize getting a shop to price match was so wrong. This is the only bike item I've purchased from a big chain and always support the local trader. I think in future everyone should post on here things they have purchased so then i can scrutinize and question your morals.

I just don't get how i can be judged when no one knows who i am. I bet no one knows about the charity work i do, the volunteering i do for youth music projects. The art projects i do with kids in the community, the cycle club i run. Just because i got a good deal I'm instantly a criminal in the eyes of people on here.

Btw if anyone would like specific details on these projects I'm more then happy to provide because I understand people on here require proof.

The price matching is irelevant, it's a red herring, no more about the price matching please...

You agreed to buy goods worth £X for £X, you were supplied by mistake goods worth £X+70, you decided to not mention it to the seller and come on here and crow. Others then wooped and said that was wonderful.

All the other bits about , how much profit they make, your volunteer work , whether the shop assistant would get sacked, if the seller was a big chain or a LBS, the ethics of price matching is all a smokescreen to the above

Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone...

What is the deal here, is Evans your dads shop or what?

He went back and Evans didn't even care, so give the guy a break.

I love it how you keyboard warriors chastise someone on the internet, I would love to see what you would do and say in real life face-to-face, I suspect a big fat zero.

I have an over riding principle (or 2) when in this situation.
  • If they inadvertantly gave me the lower model I would be back there smartish......so the same would apply if they inadvertantly gave me the higher model.....no difference-same principle.
  • Do unto others as you would LIKE them to do to you....no I'm not a born again christian....but genuinely feel if we all did this the world but be a hell of a lot better.

Dave7, extremely good sentiments and one which I agree with 100%

I think the OP knows something might have been wrong with the deal, otherwise it is unlikely it would have even been worth him talking about it.

the only advice i can offer after reading this thread againis go and enjoy your garmin

the only person whos opinion you have to worry about is when you meet your maker then he alone will judge you

and if the staff at evans didnt care i'm sure the man upstairs aint pulling his hair out over your most hanus crime

but that said you better hope he aint a cyclechat member or you will burn in the fires of hell and damnation for eternity

I say well done for going back and giving them the opportunity to square it all up Andy.

Anyone remember the Aesop's fable about the crow and the cheese?
