Well since everyone was having ago at me on here and I'm obviously a thieving , i drove back to swap it. After getting looked at like a complete weirdo they informed me there wasn't an issue. So yet another 20 quid in petrol sort of puts things right i guess. thanks guys!

They are full of morals here you know, totally honest and beyond reproach. Good on ya teletext. Now if it had been a small family business, maybe, just maybe I might have returned. Otherwise Id have been jumping down the road chuffed to bits.

In between here and there
I work close to the Evans warehouse store, I needed some gear for my new bike, but if it is not on display it is a royal pain in the backside. So to get round this I ordered online to colect in store around £130-140 of gear and all easy re-sale. Anyway it kind of back fired as it stated 3 days for collection so I went with my online reciept and email and collected the gear. 3 Days later they started pestering me to colect the stuff, I told them three times I had already collected it, fourth message on my anser phone was they were going to post it out if I didn't collect it. I went in they went to give me the gear, and then told them I had already collected and I was not leaving until it was processed properly, they treated me like I was a real inconvenience so much so I now wish I had just let them post the stuff

Right, so that 60% markup will give a Gross Profit(GP) of 37.5% .

Part of my job is setting prices for a range of products and services. For our bespoke work I aim for a GP of approx 50% with an an amber level of 45 and a red level of 40 ( at red staff need to get an OK from me to accpet the order.)

For our off the shelf products I want to see about 40ish with a rock bottom red of 30%. But our stuff isn't sold from a high rent site, has almost no shrinkage, very few returns , the values are in £000s so the transaction charges ( as a percentage ) are lower than I would expect in a retail concern.

I can't see that a 37% GP is all that terrible. YMMV

I was on the look out for a bike computer, i settled on a Garmin Edge 500 bundle. After researching online i found the best price was on Halfords for £179. With this in mind i contacted Evans' price match and they agreed. So i skipped down to Evans today to pick it up. After returning home I've realized they have sold me the premium black/red model. The price on the Evans price is £251.99 and wiggle £279.99 so really I've saved a hell of a lot of money

btw the halfords price ahs now increased but still pretty cheap at £184

I wouldn't worry so much about others taking the moral high ground. Its pretty easy to preach online to an anonymous face, but no one knows you and how you are as a person in day-to-day life so should not really judge your merits. There is only one being that can judge us and he is up there in the sky somewhere.

Me personally, it was their mistake, they are a massive company and this is like a drop in the ocean to them. It was just your turn to be lucky today.

hurrahh to that

my feelings exactly

easy for us to say take it back you thieving toerag, but i wonder put in the same situation how many of the saints that have looked down on teletext45 so reproachfully would have really been so quick to make the same journey back to evans that he eventually felt bullied into doing

Sometime when there is a mistake on the tills it is the worker that takes the financial hit not the company.
this is true but is it not also true that him returning to the store and highlighting the error could have put the assistants head on the block where as they may not have realised the mistake until the next stocktake by which time it could have been one of many staff that had made the error

Sweet Deal! You ended up £50 up!

Price matched £50 up yeah, maybe i should just go give them the difference and then everyone will be happy. Didn't realize getting a shop to price match was so wrong. This is the only bike item I've purchased from a big chain and always support the local trader. I think in future everyone should post on here things they have purchased so then i can scrutinize and question your morals.

I just don't get how i can be judged when no one knows who i am. I bet no one knows about the charity work i do, the volunteering i do for youth music projects. The art projects i do with kids in the community, the cycle club i run. Just because i got a good deal I'm instantly a criminal in the eyes of people on here.

Btw if anyone would like specific details on these projects I'm more then happy to provide because I understand people on here require proof.

No need to get on your high Chihuahua!

The good that you do, nobody remembers.
The bad that you, do nobody forgets.

You did wrong at first - there's no denying that and trying to hide behind activities leading to self beatification is pointless.

I'm not criticising you just stating fact.

I'm a sinner but always fess up and take it on the chin.

m8 seriously dont stress about it

i think 95% of people here would have walked away in your shoes and thought sweet no matter what they are saying on this thread

the only thing i wouldnt have done that you did was go back

and as far as thread above is concerned i dont think you did wrong at first a lot of people me included prob would have thought they just give me the wrong colour garmin not even realising it was more expensive

they gave you the item you gave them your money. end of enjoy it
