At 22,000 miles it should still be >95%. It suggests to me this car has been repeatedly charged at fast chargers only or has some sort of battery problem

My ID4 is 2 years and 4 months old with 29,000 on the clock. It has no appreciable capacity loss so far. 100% this morning indicated a range of 259 miles. About normal.

Handy info, thanks! I have been working on the basis of minimum 96% given the age/mileage I am looking at. I was thinking similar with regards the previous owner quite possibly repeatedly fast charging it.

You can restore a battery that's been rapid charged often. Deplete the battery to zero and set charging to lowest setting charge rate and charge back up to 100%

VW used slave labour from concentration camps and Russians. Only in 1986 did VW commission an historian to write a documented history of VW which took 10 years to complete

See my previous note. Tesla uses slave labour from Chinese companies who extract rare earth minerals with little concern for the health an wellbeing of the miners. How long will it take before Tesla commission an historian to cover the history of Tesla when Elon Musk was in charge during the fascist revolution of America?

So does everyone else, even VW. Tesla are a new company, take many decades before a book will be written

That wasn't the point that I was making. @dicko made the point that VW has historical associations with bad things. My point is that they have made steps since, whereas Tesla is unpopular for a reason.

However as this thread is to discuss the joys, trials and tribulations of EV ownership please can we get back on track before the mods step in? Anyone wishing to discuss the political implications of owning an EV is welcome to join the discussion in NACA.

Did the first longish trip in my 7 year old Leaf last night for quite a while. Pretty much all motorway and I reckon the range for Mway driving in the cold is down to 106 miles or so. I'd expect better when the weather warms up though.

I’ve driven from Oxford to Gateshead this morning in the Born, it would have made it easily on one charge but I topped up at Leeming Bar Services, (absolute sh*t hole of a services but very fast chargers) charged from 27% to 80% in about 30 minutes, It got me thinking how easy EV motoring has been, I usually charge at home but long journeys you do have to put your hand in your pocket to pay for fast charging but it’s still so much cheaper than my old BMW 330d. I’m glad I made the decision to go electric, the driving experience is just so nice and relaxed.

Nice. My only advice would be that you can find super fast chargers that are not in motorway services and they are usually much nicer :-)

Found a possible car last Thursday. Speak to the Sales guy and ask him to confirm battery health/capacity. Says he'll get the technician to check.

Hear nothing back, ask him again. Says they have taken it into the onsite workshop, will let me know. Turn up Saturday for test drive. Now it is some story about the numbers need to be sent off for a cert. Tell him it is a dealbreaker, we arrange a deal in case and he confirms he will defo know on Monday. Starts pushing heavily that the number is immaterial as the 8 year warranty covers me!

Monday, claims they are waiting on confirmation from HQ. Ask how long, no reply.

Chase on Tuesday, no cert but he can nearly guarantee it is above 96%. Tell him I won't buy without confirmation it is.

Today, tells me it is 92%, but don't worry all batteries drain and I won't find any used ev with a battery health above 95%, and there is that good old warranty.

Tell him I am not buying the car. He actually gets peeved with me and tells me I basically don't understand ev's and perhaps best not to buy one!

Absolutely extraordinary!
