Had a stressful but successful weekend. Car charger I used last time I was down in Portsmouth (JustPark at a private house) was no longer available. No problem, as I could use a nearby country park, although inside a gated car park, so could only use during opening hours. And due to Storm Darragh it was closed on Saturday, so no chance of a charge. Arghh!!

Got a few extra kWh from the Granny charger where I was staying, and then found another JustPark near our destination, which got it up to 98%. Result! Needed a further stop on the way home, which coincided with supper, and got back with 6 miles left.

Going up to Bradford in the New Year. No chargers near the destination, and distance right on the edge of range if I drive carefully. So getting a hire vehicle.

Where in Bradford? We gave chargers in Shipley?

8C is cold-ish. 70mph will eat range. 60-65mph seems to be optimum speed to extract best miles per kW on motorways

Cannot see a EV being much different....

It's more to do with actual range matching predicted range at the start of journey. Over 65mph, actual range drops below predicted

I was just showing that speed Vs drag is a real thing as all cyclists know!!

I set off last night for a 151 mile trip, mainly on motorway. It was windy but not too cold. 8c.
I had 204 miles of charge when I left, and arrived with just 25miles. So I lost 28 miles of range during the journey. Motorway driving at 70mph definitely eats power quicker. And the wind and cold won’t have helped.
So you definitely have to accept at least 10% loss of range.

Sounds fair for this time of year.
We had 242 miles in a “full tank” this morning….should’ve got home with over 85 miles, but actually ended up with 45 left.

Apart from the lawlessness in Bradford, it looks well catered for.

The centre of Bradford is fast being turned into a "pedestrian paradise". Which means the map you've posted is out of date. The end of this month it will be further out of date.
The entertainment complex up from the Interchange is in administration, meaning the car park is closed. The carpark at the Kirkgate Arndale Centre cannot be relied on, nor can the ones around the Oastler Centre(John Street Market). Street closures are happening daily and with limited warning. Even Broadway Centre has had some removed because traffic is being limited. The council ones showing on that map you'll not be allowed to use anyway.

@BrumJim, consider Hartshead Services on the M62. Before the M606 turn-off to Bradford.

They're not all these super chargers at Hartshead.

I'd forgotten your Renault Zoe 40 EV doesn't have any rapid DC charging capability

It will always make journeys beyond its max range awkward for onward steps.

Have you thought of upgrading to a car with 100kW DC charging?

Edit: Actually, only weekends when there is a national event. Local races are very reachable.

The difference with my car going up to the Peak district against the wind and then home with it, was 48mpg to 52 mpg, which was rather interesting. About 100 miles.

If union IG metal don't accept the wage reductions, then its looking dire for VW and Porsche.

VW labour costs are nearly 4 times the costs of Chinese made EVs per car!

China sidestepped the EV tariff set by the EU.

Stupidly EU places no tariffs at all on hybrids, so China is flooding Europe with their hybrid cars.
