I plan to be in Essex (Brentwood) from the middle of Jan for a while. Not too sure of dates, at the moment.

Occasionally! A lot of my mates drank there in the 80s and 90s. My local was just down the road: The Victoria Arms - a lot of hangovers were conceived there!

Castle was a brilliant pub friend used to work behind the bar.

From there we used to go to a club in Rayleigh called Crocs that became The Pink Toothbrush many a drunken night happily spent

I last went to Crocs in 1979 or 1980. It was a Radio Caroline roadshow and I had hair down to my shoulders. Those were the days. *Sigh*

Worse still, I remember The Goldmine on Canvey which for all disco and Jazz Funk freaks at the time (70's 80's) was something of a Mecca. And they had the World Championship Dwarf throwing contest there one Sunday. With strippers afterwards.

All I remember of Canvey from my not-very-misspent youth was that there was allegedly a nudist beach on there somewhere. My friends and I often cycled to the island to try to find it - but never succeeded.

All my schoolchums spent all their weekends at Tots, dancing round their handbags. I was far too boring for that though.
