I'm thinking about getting a drone to do aerial stills and video when I'm in France in particular. This one for total beginners seems to get pretty good reviews. I think it might even fit in a big jersey pocket when folded.

Main things I'd like to do is while I'm on mountain walks and rides, just for short 1-2 minute videos, and still from interesting aerial angles. Looks like that linked drone should do the clever stuff via its phone app. I've got some nice scenery to play with straight out of the front door. It would allow me to get all sorts of angles that should be stunning (not least getting more up close and personal to that gert big rockface).. But I know I'd have a lot to learn.

Any thoughts/observations?

The Potensic does seem to be a rip off of the DJI mini 4k. The specs, price and even the names of the quick shots are similar. There is, however, a Potensic Atom 2 which has some upgrades. The most significant upgrade is a tracking mode where the drone can follow you as you walk, cycle etc. Whether the improvement is worth the extra 30 quid is not my call.

If it turns out that flying a drone is not just a passing fad, you will regret it if you don't buy the fly more bundle of whichever model you choose.

From the original post, UK law requires that you are able to see the drone at all times. While you could fly it to those cliffs in the picture, navigating my means of the cameras, you would realistically be breaking the law to do so.

Also, bear in mind that laws and licencing are specific to each country. Your UK licence is no good in France.

Lastly, unless the drone comes with some sort of protection for the blades, you don't want to be putting in a pocket.

Thanks for all those observations!
