my daughter failed her test today. She made one silly mistake.
The next available test is April 2025. How is it fair and reasonable to wait 6 months. That’s costing huge amounts in lessons.

Now ,there's something in the approach to the motorcycling scheme, , you take the CBT ,pass the assesment , then you have 2 yrs before you take the Theory & practical tests.
It's relevant ,as you can ride unsupervised, all valuable road time,it's often said motorcyclist make better drivers, as they are more aware of road conditions.
I'd say encourage her to do it, I took the training then my bike test, very enlightening. I am 62 and been driving for over 40 years.
It needs not cost much the CBT is around £200, you can be on the road for under £2k insurance included.

@Beebo - have you tried a cancellation service? Imo they're scoundrels but will get her into a much earlier test. It just costs more.

We used one for son no. 2 together with the intensive driving course they offered. It meant a much shorter wait.

Yes. She is looking daily and will almost certainly get a cancellation at some point, but it’s crazy.

My wife to be failed her first test because the examiner asked to meet up with her in the evening. Second test same examiner same request failed again. Third test she agreed to meet and she passed. Waiting to greet the examiner we’re a couple of us big lads he didn’t show up. Mrs is a fantastic careful driver.

She will have at least 200 hours of driving practice before test date
I was thinking that seems a lot, but then my eldest probably had around 150 hours of lessons and practice before her test.
We found the "driving test routes" app very useful. Overpriced but it was very helpful in familiarising with the likely routes that a test centre uses, particularly if you have any pi$$ poor road planning in the area.

We have this beautiful piece of work near us. Work out how to indicate that you are going to abbey road from London Street or indeed that you want to go from Pound Road to Bridge Road.

She will drive to and from school every day, plus weekends learning the test area. 5 months waiting list around here. We anticipated spring test when she began driving in November. Took till Xmas to get her theory arranged

I spent most of a year staying at the Chertsey camp site by the river (Mon - Thu nights, when I was working as a freelance), so I did use that junction on occasion.

From Pound Road to Bridge road is no problem. You don't indicate at all, treat it like a regular crossroads.

From London St to Abbey Road is a bit more tricky. You really need to indicate right, although it won't then be obvious to other drivers whether you are heading for Abbey Road or for Pound Road. I'm not sure I ever came at that junction from the London St direction without continuing on into Bridge Road though.

Looks a bit unpleasant so I had a peek on Streetview and found ...

Some horse riders indicating right from Abbey Rd onto Bridge Rd.

My daughter passed on 23rd December.
A load of cancellations came up that week. I guess people were too busy. So she took a last minute test, but had to do the test in our car because her instructor was already booked for lessons.
Cue some last minute cramming lessons with me in the weekend before Christmas! Not like I had anything else to do!

Yes - it's the most confusing bit for a learner though, and practically all the routes take you through that junction.

I'd say the examiner wasn't fit to carry out his duty, and is blatantly abusing his position,
Good on the big lads!

The road layout could be vastly improved with a mini roundabout .
But having not used the junction, I do not see any pressing problems negotiating it, but I do have over 50 yrs road experience.
