That pic was taken for the insurance to show what I had on when I got splatted (plus 4 flashers on the rucksack mounted on the sides)...... driver 'didn't see me'.....

It now sports 2 x HOPE Vision 1's (front) and the cateye rear (bottom one) has been replaced by a Smart Superflash..... overkill I know !!!!!

There still romm for a couple of lights down one or both seat stays:biggrin:;). Seriously though, once you get to a certain point, no amount of extra lights is going to make a SMIDSY driver see you if they haven't already.

How's the shoulder?

Told you I was the forum's resident OCD bike cleaner... TBH it's not much work when you keep on top of it.

The shoulder is so so...got a Specialist appointment in a couple of weeks so I'll hopefully have an idea of what's needed - physio reccons an operation. Importantly, the third party's insurer has just started to pay up for expenses - just had about £300 to cover damage to bike, helmet, and the first few physio treatments.

That makes 2 of us then, It drives Mrs Ianrauk round the bend the amount of time I spend cleaning my bikes.

It also seems to be a running joke with my cycling chums at how obsesive I am with cleaning my bike... Just ask Mr Sittingduck...

I'm lucky enough to have more than one bike; in fact, 4 roadworthy right now.

One, an old mountain bike, is my "extreme weather" bike and is sadly neglected. It is in desperate need of a new drivetrain and hasn't had a complete wash and overhaul in more than 2 years. I'm not likely to ride it until it snows again.

Then I have my Bleriot, which, besides being a fine long-distance machine, is my "everyday" bike. I keep it relatively clean and well-lubed, but I don't sweat if it gets a bit mud-spattered. In fact, it's sitting in the hall right now, sporting the remnants of Monday's ride in the rain.

My Marinoni Ciclo, now 3 years old, has become my "rain bike" for group rides. It has full mudguards and a nice long mudflap which gets me respect in the paceline. I care for it under the same protocol as the Bleriot.

Finally, there's my Marinoni Sportivo "Randonnee" Ti. which, despite its corrosion free frame material, I keep out of inclement weather as much as possible. If I'm caught out on a ride, it gets immediate, fanatical attention, until it shines again.

If I was too fastidious with all these machines, I wouldn't have time to ride. In fact, I know some people who do just that -- fiddle with their bikes continually, but never seem to ride! B)

yup just clean the bike, but dont use fairy liquad/ washing up liquid as it strips the grease and has a high salt level, use a bike cleaning fluid and regrease all moving areas

My bikes get washed once every six months when I swap the one downstairs (the daily ride) for the one upstairs (the out of season one)...

Only needed 20 minutes of washing, after a dry ride on the road? Mine gets locked up, patted on the saddle if it's lucky, and left for next time.

You!
