Disc vs rim

I'm sure a well set up rim brake is the equal of a disc brake, but a poorly set up rim is nowhere near as good as a rarely looked at disc brake (it's the crossbowmen vs longbowmen argument basically).

Can I claim a 5 page TMN? :-)

Indeed. Crashing into a motorcyclist because 1: I wasn't paying attention and 2: the wet rim brakes didn't bite quick enough, convinced me to go disc.

Found a minus point about my discs, they are a right faff to get the wheel in and out if you need to do a inner tube change , lets hope its not to often and not in the dark as getting the rotor back in without the inner pad catching the rotor and sticking to it is fiddly .

Yes, I hate that with discs as well. I've never had to do it in the dark and hope I don't have to either.

Odd, I've done it loads of times, the only time it's been a problem was after I'd removed the axle to redo the bearings. I do always tip the bike upside down though.
