Peteaud and Pottsy - well done! You will soon be over the worst, and already you've given yourselves the best gift ever for the future.

gbb - if it's only a puff now and then, you can easily do without such a small thing. As it is, you're still smoking really, aren't you. |That step's a really easy one, and you can do it. Perhaps when your wife sees how happy you are and how well you feel, she will join you. Good luck!
Thanks TMN:thumbsup:
Not one puff today, despite the desire most of the afternoon. I know you're right...i know it yet that's what smoking does to you, you think, just a drag to kill it...and you can be back on that slippery slope so so easily.
Ridiculous innit...
It occured to me today...i had been using some nicotine inhaler thingys in past attempts, like a tube you put in a fake ciggie. Are they really useful ?...after all, you're still perpetuating your bodies dependence on nicotine. Cold turkey for me this time.

Havnt said it myself, well done Pottsy and Pete, keep it up.

Ive been using the mouth squirt and i have to say its been ok. I wont buy another unless i get a major crave but it did seem to help.

Tasted vile though.

keep up the good work, you can do it.

Still going
11th day, and i know we've discussed the stupidity of having that very very occasional drag to kill a craving, without trying to mitigate it somehow (which i am anyway ), bear in mind it equates to probably one drag per day, not one fag....one drag.
Anyroadup...not one drag for 3 days now, completely clean.

Thinking back to the last time i packed up, i seem to remember it was hard for three days, then it just clicked. Its harder this time...but not too bad.
Thats another thing...inevitably you mention to people at work you're packing it in...its amazing how many appear shellshocked you can even try....'seriously ?...phwww,,,wish i could'

It is tricky to seperate the physical cravings from the mental/emotional ones. The truth is that if you go cold turkey (best in my opinion) the physical cravings only last 3 - 5 days (hard to believe but true). The rest is all in the mind. After 2 weeks the only way to fail is to take your eye off the ball. After 6 weeks it gets much much easier. You can never take your guard down completely though.

totally agree. The more you think about it the longer it takes for the cravings to go mental/physical totally linked, nicotine acts in the brain.....cramps etc are due to the brain. as i have said before use the cravings as recognition of the nictoine losing the battle.
Remember, by stopping smoking you are not depriving yourself........if you dont agree, ask yourself what you are exactly depriving yourself of??
think of nicotine as a poison.......cos it is......

Well if youve managed it this far, i'd say youve cracked it - respect.

Not yet, as i still have cravings.....

in fact......

i smoked a cigarette.

Not in real life, but in a dream!!

Had a dream last night where i lit up and smoked.

I was so pi**ed off with myself.

Then i woke up and didnt know if i had smoked or not, although there are none in the house, really weird, and i was so angry with myself for failing!!!!

But all a dream, thankfully

so yes 18 days and still a non smoker^_^

It was just a dream, don't dwell on it. If everything I dreamed of came true then I'd be in a lot of trouble, and Kylie Minogue would be mighty sore.

Congratulations again. The cravings are just a little monster trying to hurt you. Every time you resist, the monster gets a little weaker and eventually it will die.
