If you won't change your thoughts you are not being rational, if you are holding a belief and do not rely on rational thought then it's as close to religion as makes no difference.

That sounds just like the views of many a religious person I know.

You don't have to agree with me to be rational, you simply need to agree with data/logic/argument. You however have already said that nothing will sway you, that means that you have made an irrational decision.

I did, it didn't back you up! Within an hour it was pointed out that there was no sign of causation, within 2hrs it was shown that you were being disengenous/sloppy by omitting the cause of deaths.


The reason that these threads go in circles is that believers won't accept that their belief is wrong, and instead of looking for figures to research they look for figures to back up their beliefs, once those figures are shown no to show what they belief they go off to find some more and the circle begins again.

Now, have you got any other figures you want to show yourself up with or are you going to fall back on " It's common sense innit?"

If you can't cope with a debate about science, using terms as used in science, rather than whingeing about being talked down to maybe you would be better off learning how to use the terms , or possibly not getting involved? Of the three options, learning would seem the best all round , not joining in the most popular and whingeing the least likely to convince anyone.

Seems to happen on helmet threads more so than others. Its a shame that most of these discussions descend into tit for tat, I for one have tried to keep it on track but i'm not convinced all posters true intentions are on show. You've been called paranoid for this, no doubt so will I, however I maintain my view on helmets and helmet posters, no page after page of multi quotes, patronizing replies and childish off topic tit for tat will make me change my thoughts on this. If this leads to people thinking or posting MTFU, it all depends on what people think manning up is. Picking holes in grammar or dealing with semantics and trying to be a WUM on a forum is hardly manning up in my opinion.

This started with someone posting figures as a "proof" , that to me is a debate about science.

You might see it as a lecture, possibly because you are being corrected about how you ( wrongly) use scientific terms.

To the contrary you have decided to pop in and out of "science English" and " common English" in a desperate attempt to show that "doubt" means that you decide to refuse a theory that you don't like. It's a common tactic , scientists are used to seeing it.

I don't think I have ever mentioned my intelligance, supposed or otherwise, as for wanting no one else to take part so that I can be right. The science shows that there is no real proof that helmets work, if you( or anyone else) have some science that disproves that please show me. There, you now have an invitation for anyone else to take part...

I wish you would make up your mind , you dismissed the OPs post as rubbish and now you claim its a scientific discussion, you say that Scientists are used to people mixing up Scientific English and Common English, that infers vested interest and you casually dropped in that you were studying for an exam, in an attempt" possibly unconcious" to show that you were more knowledgeable,regarding Global Warming ,also "try and get your facts right" is the end of one sentence and "careful your ignorance is showing" is another, signified by the full stop in between, part quoting again. As to nose counting I was expressing disappointment to AFS that he had been drawn down to your level. that is why I answered your posts separately and used full quotes.
