Dacia Logan MCV .... update

Glad to see you like the Logan @Fab Foodie I've had my Sandero two and a half years now and absolutely no issues (unless you include a mini parking in my boot!!:cursing:) only done 15000 miles or so though.... but has never been in for anything warranty related)

As previously mentioned the 1.2 engine won't win any races but I'd have to try really hard to get any speeding tickets

Thanks to @Fab Foodie(and his Dacia recommendations) I'm considering the Sandero. What are the service costs like and what else can you tell me about the vehicle? Do you do much motorway mileage as I read that the engine can be very noisy? Overall the write ups I have seen have been very positive about the Sandero and I look forward to trying one out in the next couple of weeks.

The first two services are meant to be full brake/suspension/fluid inspections and just filter and oil change but second one I did air and plugs as well. I 'exercise' my right to use any vat registered garage and O.E quality aftermarket parts so first one came in at about £60.00 second £75.00 both including parts, mates rates may have been involved though:whistle: under E.U law any garage can do the work and warranty must be upheld by the vehicle manufacturer

The first one I got the filter from the dealer and was handed on stamped Manufactured by Mann filters for Renault so second time I got a Mahle one (O.E filters for BMW) one from where I work..... The Dealer couldn't even supply me a gallon oil as they bought in bulk and had no retail packs:rolleyes: so I got the spec off them and matched it one one from our stock.

I'm assuming a good independent garage can half the main dealer prices.

Hi Durian
The Logan is an Estate version of the Sandero in effect, the same floor pan with an extra 18" at the rear.
I can't comment on service costs as this wasn't a big factor for me, I'll use my own local guy and it can only be significantly cheaper than the C8 it replaced. Magazines should be able to give some details or dealers at least.
I have the 1.5dci Diesel engine version which has the same engine as the Clio and Kaptur (and possibly the Nissan Quasquai as well). I have found it to be very smooth and quiet so far. Most of my driving is motorways and at 70mph in 5th gear the engine runs at 2000rpm and is nicely quiet, smooth relaxing. Ride is a little jiggly/bouncy (I think partly due to the extra rear overhang) but minor imperfections are taken smoothly. Handling around corners is a bit barge-like but predictable and forgiving and as I'm not spending time racing across country it's hardly an issue.

I would certainly take a test drive and maybe try more than 1 engine. Diesel for me was the obvious choice due to the motorway, load lugging and annual mileage usage. At the dealers I used, the Sandero's seem to be flying out of the showroom!
Cars are very personal things on so many levels ....
I too have a Dacia Logan, and it is doing absolutely fine. I have had mine about a year now, similar spec to @Fab Foodie , it is the 0.9 turbo diesel version, and I was wondering about it being under-powered like the old 1.6 Zafira. But we went away on holiday, 4 of us, 3 bikes, a canoe, a beagle, top-box fully loaded and it trotted up the motorway at 70 no problems. The fuel consumption is excellent due to the Eco Tech 3 engine.

Mine is bought on a work lease scheme, my colleague, currently sat on the other side of the desk partition has a Peugeot Hatchback thing, and is paying £190 a month for hers. My Dacia is costing me £88 a month on the same mileage basis (and she hasn't got touch screen audio/navigation/bluetooth) Now that really is a no-brainer :okay:

To answer @biggs682 I would say that no you can't get three bikes stood up in the back, but it does come with roof rails as standard fitment. When paired with my roof bars (£27.99 from Lidl) you have loads of carrying room.
Hi Maggot
I'd be interested in hearing a bit more about your experience/feedback 'review' of it so far!

Thanks fab foodie and simon the viking for the information. I will definitely be booking a test drive once I return to England.

If you are going to be doing loads of motorway miles then I'd suggest the Diesel engine Fab foodie has. My 1.2 copes on the motorway but it works a little hard to keep up with motorway speeds so a little noisy but probably no noisier than other small cars... But comfort wise can't fault it no fancy adjustable lumbar supports but certainly comfy enough, we have used it for quite long trips holidays etc.... but it mainly potters around town

My brother-in-law holds the ladder whilst my sister cleans the gutters. His argument is that they are attached to the house, therefore come under the heading of housework!!
