I could use this in the "things you've only just realised/learned" thread - even though we eat sprouts most days, I had absolutely no idea (never even thought of it) of how they are grown or what they would look like on the plant they come from
don't think it is grown in these parts - wheat country round here, cereals, rape potatoes and some peas seem to be the vast bulk of what is growI spent my teenage years in Grantham, prime agricultural country, and we used to spend summer holidays picking potatoes or other veg, or working in the Fruit & veg packing factory at Christian Salveson's. And I still have vivid memories of one winter holiday spent picking brussel sprouts.
So that one, I have been well aware of for about 50 years
