Very sad and as with so many others it feels like you get to know people without ever meeting them. He always seemed happy to help and was clearly well thought of. I imagine the local kids miss him fixing up their bikes. Very sad and as @Drago said be kind to each other. Beer in hand, to you @Cycleops

Barnet,
Although I never met him, we had a kind of bond as we lived in the same area as kids, and used the same bike shops.
We used to PM each other on various subjects over the years.
I liked his attitude, especially in the bike mechanical threads.
RIP Cycleops.

Perhaps moving forwards if a long time member hasn't been seen for a few weeks a moderator could reach out to check if all was ok ?

Good idea 👍

I’m on another forum. Where many / most of us are in our mid-50’s or older. And they have this thread ‘over there’……to keep abreast of how someone is doing, if they’ve been seen, when they last posted etc…….

Well, write it down boy ......
That is indeed very sad news. Cycleops often gave a different slant to things, living in Ghana. His stories of cats being kidnapped (was it for food?) made me think outside my UKcentric world view. He will be sadly missed.

Indeed it is. And he will be.

On any forum there are people whose posts always warrant attention. He was one of those.

RIP
