And some folk have a weird idea of what constitutes success.

I've never tried to write a comedy show so I couldn't say. Conversely, if it's some kind of pithing contest, James Corden can't play bass, rebuild a gearbox, or pop 2 rounds in the X ring at 10M on open sights, so 'talent', such as it may be, is all relative.

I don't think anyone is saying he's not successful, more that he comes across as an loud mouthed obnoxious gobshite.

You know this as facts do you?

I love successful people. Just not obnoxious, talentless ones.
Because you do not, as a middle aged bloke, appreciate the talent of someone like James Corden doesn't make his talent any less valid
No doubt young people would be singularly unimpressed by your talents (and mine too probably) but I'm sure you regard your talents as valid
What is true to say is that he has managed to find millions of people who do appreciate his talents. At the end of the day, appreciation of talent is a very personal thing. But it is undeniable that James Corden is very, very appreciated

Let's not forget that Corden also hasn't opened a tin of sardines with his teeth, hummed the works of Gilbert and Sullivan without becoming confused or breaking down, climbed Mount Everest in a smoking jacket and plus-fours to win a bet with Oscar Wilde, swum the Atlantic to win a bet with Humphrey Bogart or reinvented the ocarina

I'm not sure about the last one, i think I saw something on Fecesbook about him setting up a new factory in sub Sahara Africa rather than teaching the villagers to fish!

Back to the original point

I rather enjoyed it, but had too few laugh out loud moments, and to many cringy "oh my God" moments, but overall I thought it was excellent.

Both Cordon and Jones are talented, funny and successful. Cordon has won a BAFTA, a Tony, had a #1 hit single and an OBE - success by any measure, and Jones has won three BAFTAs, also had a #1 single and was awarded an MBE.

You may not like Cordon, but to say he is talent-less is just plain wrong

CC has spoken!

The intelligentsia of CycleChat are looked to by the nation to provide answers to these knotty problems, and CC has spoken!

I will write forthwith to the Director General of the BBC to demand the show is taken forever from the airwaves (Derek and Clive fans will know the DG's postal address...)

Not this "the people have spoken" nonsense again, I'm tired of populism.

I didn't vote for the show to be axed, I voted for Corden to be used to protect the hippos.

I feared that it would be as poor as Rise of Skywalker, in being way too relient on nostalgia for the past series. However loved it because:
1) Nessa and the taps
2) Services on the M4 conversation
3) The "Fishing Trip" reveal
4) Sonia playing the Cecily Cardew-type character. Although her naivity is against the familys' dynamics rather than life in general.
5) The Christmas puddings debacle
6) Last scene cliff-hanger

There was a lightness of touch that you don't get with James Cordon on his own. A feel-good comedy, with an ending leaving you feeling like you have had it snatched away and held, tauntingly, in front of you.
Much better than I feared it would be.
