Best Christmas comedy specials for me are the one from around about 2006/7 from Still Game, absolutely hilarious.

G&S series 1 was genuinely funny and was must watch telly in our house.
However it quickly went off the boil and subsequent series failed to match the quality and I was quite meh when it finished, having apparently reached a natural conclusion.

I can't see why they brought it back other than as a cash cow, hoping we've all forgotten why it got binned in the first place. I admit to watching it, but thought it was tired, looked old and just wasn't that funny

The comparison with Only Fools And Horses is valid and fitting - another show that was exceptional when it started and which got the tag "national treasure" but where the standards slipped (they never bettered the Margate special) and we all breathed a grateful sigh of relief when they became millionaires and it ended. It was also resurrected and it was never as good.

Most times; the past should be left in the past.

I didnt watch it myself but my wife and daughters thought it was great. Since the program finished all we hear in our house is "Oi, Douglas, whats occurring!", in really bad Welsh accents, at every opportunity. I thought it might wear off on Boxing Day, but here we are in 2020 ( a whole year later) and its still going strong. Ho ho ho.

My daughter loves it (watches it on repeat, almost endlessly) and got me watching it. Have to say it was great, even to the point where I thought Cordon (who I normally cannot abide) was good in it.

Rumours are that japanese fisherman now have a quota that allows them to harpoon James Corden, but only for scientific purposes. Best of luck to them I say.

I love successful people. Just not obnoxious, talentless ones.
I'm with you on that one, which is why I don't like all these reality shows, but could you write a successful (whether you deem it or not) which has been shown on the BBC for 3 series & then 10 years later asked to come back & write a Christmas special?
