Started with Wood?! What?

not sure why that's a surprise, when else would you bowl the only fast bowler we have other, than with the new ball?
its also pretty tough for the spinners to grip the brand new ball. its needs a few overs to take the lacquer off a bit.

Defo advantage India, we dont half need some wickets early tmr

None of our approach works unless its a way can be found to make money no-one cares and that go's for many of the players.

People do care, and that's why it's so frustrating to see the stupid decisions made by the ECB.

Hartley got absolutely destroyed today. What a Test debut.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I can see us being walloped here, possibly by an innings.

Agreed People who follow the game do indeed care what I meant was it's the ones in charge and the ones around them that don't.
We simply cant play spin or have anyway near enough top class spinners in the game. It's no surprise and wont improve if the ECB continues to take away the best part of the session. To do nothing else but chase the money and to hell with every thing else.
Too many player now are all at sea if they can't knock a ball all over the park. Test matchers need a level head and a view on the long game too many simply can't cut it when the going get's hard.

Said it before but it's time for ECB to come clean we simply can't carry on playing everything and trying to win everything. The talent pool is not big enough or good enough. Better to the be the best in one or two formats than be hit and miss at every thing. Sadly I think If they did we'd be left with very little of the current game left. Then again it's slow dying anyway so either way the ones who care end up losing come what.

I mostly agree.

I'd fire The Hundred into the sun without hesitation.

Keep 20/20 and either pay proper attention to one day cricket or get shot of that too.

Yes we need a rebalance as before having limited overs format that compliments the rest. Which allows something for everyone both followers and players. The next few years something is likely to give one way or the other. IPL money men are already circling looking to buy clubs. Hampshire already look to be on way to being sold to Delhi Capitals. Once outside investment starts pouring in they won't stay on the sidelines.

Unless something drastic happens, Duckett has lost the plot:

India look well placed to go with my dismal prediction of us losing by an image.

That position isn't looking so strong now, is it Duckett old chap? And yeah, I know, he's not exactly going to come out and say "Yep, we were mince", but that was a ridiculous comment.

Still, at least the Aussies are having a tough time against the West Indies, which is always pleasing.

Another day! Now he's on 2 wickets (and a catch).
India still strong favourites, but I think this session counts as a Fightback.

And a run out.

He and Ahmed really need to buck up their ideas though. There's no point building a bit of pressure and then chucking an easy delivery. They've all been guilty of it, but they've been by far the worst culprits.

Give the young spinners a break, Shane Warne started with 1/150 on test debut.
