I thought about waiting around for some sunset colour. Glad I didn’t as it just went grey.

Porthgain?

Edit - already asked and answered. That section from Abereiddi to there is on my list of Milky Way locations but as the inlaws have got rid of their caravan I'll be a much lesss frequent visitor now.

Porthgain harbour.
Slate (I thought) although the historic photograph says ‘brickworks and crushing plant’ but also mentions slate.
Given the size and depth of the harbour, getting those ships in and out must have been interesting.
A bit quieter now, although it can get a bit hectic having become a mecca for tourists in summer.

It's coming back to me now. I think they bet on roofing slate deposits and built the harbour to get it to booming industrial towns. But there was not enough of sufficient quality, so they worked out a way of making bricks out of crushed slate and sold those. Unfortunately the bricks were heavy and extremely absorbent so transporting them to towns by open topped sea barge was not that successful either.

Very diffuse aurora over the local reservoir. Interesting that to my eye it's more visible in the reflection. I was surprised how faint it was on camera as there seemed to be a reasonable tint to the sky by eye.

Would more of it be visible if you reduced the blue balance? With my lazy auto settings, the glow of sunsets often disappears unless I set it to cloudy, and/or reduce the blue afterwards.

Don’t think so, I think it just wasn’t strong enough. I played about with the levels a bit and that was the best overall look.
