The delicacy of this is really quite special.

I think they are all good strong subjects, sharp, soft or in between. I’ve not come across any cherry blossoms yet or magnolias for that matter. Considering the compression (184Kb), the catkin shot has come out particularly well.
I thought about waiting around for some sunset colour. Glad I didn’t as it just went grey.

Ooh, is that the place that they built just to get minerals out. There was a documentary about it on iPlayer a while back, I think.
Wow, cheers! I tried with a few different 50mm lenses and a few different angles. This was taken with an old Yashica lens which in certain situations gives a swirl to the background. Plenty of failures too.
Left it with a low contrast look.
Porthgain harbour.
Slate (I thought) although the historic photograph says ‘brickworks and crushing plant’ but also mentions slate.
Given the size and depth of the harbour, getting those ships in and out must have been interesting.
A bit quieter now, although it can get a bit hectic having become a mecca for tourists in summer.

I think it is the lens’s imperfections that make the image, along with a great focal point and framing.
Sometimes lens performance ‘problems’ can (accidentally or intentionally) make a picture. Lens flare, structured bokeh, chromatic aberration, distortion etc.
Ah, I thought it looked familiar - I went there six years ago with my mum, and have a friend who used to live in a house just up from the harbour. Nice spot.
