You mean like the pro mechanics do in the split second they pick the bike up, put the chain back on, brush it off and then put it back under their rider that just crashed it?

If it was me, I'd get the LBS to trim the steerer and fit the headset (assuming new forks are being supplied) and do all the rest of the work myself. None of it is difficult, and the most fiddly bit - fitting the brifters to the bars and getting cables fitted should not need to be done as the bars don't need to be stripped down.Well an amicable resolution has been met and I'm now awaiting an RT-57 frame to come back into stock to be sent out to me. Just rang up an LBS however and they want £150 for them to put all the parts onto the new frame?! Is this a bit expensive? I can do near enough all the work myself but was willing to spend a bit of cash to get a professional to do it. What problems may I encounter when swapped the gear over?
When I had some trouble with a frame. The company wanted me to strip the parts before sending it back, I said no so the cheeky basts said I should get my LBS to do it. I stuck to my guns and said no. In the end they picked up the complete bike. Changed the frame, swapped the parts over and shipped back. All on their account.
they aren't budging on fitting the stuff to the frame as it "isn't a warranty issue" ?!?! I'm getting pretty miffed with them now...
He didn't but the bike as a project to build up, he bought it to ride. And mechanical skills are best learnt a bit at a time as parts need replacing or upgrading, not stripping and rebuilding a brand new machine to cover someone elses mistake. With all the pitfalls that involves for someone who can't do it easily and without advice that's asking for trouble. The rt 57 is a nice upgrade IMO. Seems like you should take the fitting of parts as a nice project on building a bike up.
