Looks like I've got a combined offer of somewhere to sleep and to sit on the dog so put me down for the 100km ride. Now, where did I put my hill legs?
Super!

Despite the lumpy looking profile, it isn't a particularly hilly route. If you check the scales you will see that the first big lump is basically a long drag. The next big lump is the Trough of Bowland which does get quite steep towards the top, but apart from that, most of the climbs are short or gentle. There is a sting in the tail after Ribchester though, at about 93 km on that profile. That includes a short steep section which caught many of us out when we did it last time. And of course, the Col de Whalley, a little hill to the car park at Spring Wood. Anybody still feeling frisky at the end of the main loop can sprint up that!

It's a maybe from me. I've pencilled it in, sorry I can't be more certain, I'm not sure if I'll be on holiday. It'll be good training for my LEJOG later in the year though if I can make it....cheers for the planning

Including @dr_pink iirc

Wonder if she'll be coming over for a re-match up the Whalley Rise?

I think totallyfixed is scheduled for shoulder surgery around that time so probably not very likely?

It is only a provisional list of riders at the moment. No doubt a good or bad forecast for the day will boost or cut the turnout!

If you're redrawing it, make it a bit less hilly!
I think the only climb which might cause problems is the Trough itself. If the other lumps feel tough, then you could walk up them in a few minutes each!

Anyway - you have 11 weeks to prepare for it. SITD is 2 weeks later and is about 5 times as hard, so my route will be a nice warm-up for that!

Will miss the SITD this year, as it coincides with my annual pilgrimage to Benidorm. I'll need to be fit for that though.

Once up the 1,000 m Tudons climb every day?

If I get on well on this forum ride, I will try and do SITD much quicker than I have for years. If the forum ride is okay but not brilliant, I will do a leisurely SITD. If I struggle with the forum ride, then I had better give SITD a miss for another year!

Not the one where at the end of 100 miles she rode away from everyone on her pink fixed? Surely not.
Good thing I have a shoulder op just before then, mind you if it is postponed and dr_pink comes on the geared bike.................
Did I mention that her climbing has improved somewhat . [see National HIll Climb results]
It would be brilliant to come up and do this ride if only to meet some of the others like coffee jo. Have you a limit on numbers Colin?

I'm thinking of the nearest YHA. Slaidburn is fairly near but is very remote. There are some camping barns such as this

but it sleeps 15!! @ColinJ I'm guessing I might be better off finding something at Whalley? Waddya reckon?

Plus there's a train station at Whalley. Hmmm.
Try Padiham, Burnley or Clitheroe if you want cheap or reasonable hotel chain prices. If you want something classy and countrified....
