Sorry Colin, will have to miss this one, shoulder op scheduled for 25th March and no idea how long before I will be out riding again, can't take too long as I have a 100 mile fixed gear ride to lead a few weeks later. Catch the next one maybe.

Shame it would have been nice to catch up with yourself and the good Dr again. Hope the op fixes the shoulder once and for all, I presume this is still the after effects from the car accident.

He only said he was missing the ride, dr_pink might still make it

Indeed, almost 18 months on now, I am sure we will get together either down here or up there at some point this year.

Be afraid, be very afraid.
I think they are running scared @potsy . They are afraid of your new climbing abilities and don't want to get beat by you on the climb back up to the car park!
Careful, we might use gears this time.

Oh well - I thought the shoulder op. might get in the way. Good luck with that!

There is a chance that I will be down in the Midlands with a bike in June. Lots of different factors are involved in the decision (money, fitting in with other people's holidays, my health, the weather and so on ...) but if I can make it, I will. If so, I would let you, @dr_pink, @dave r and @Norry1 know so that perhaps we could get together again and do another ride. I would try to straddle 2 weekends so I could maybe do one ride in Rutland, and another to the Cotswolds and back from Meriden or Stratford-upon-Avon.

Sounds good to me.

This is now looking unlikely for me, my shift patterns are falling on the weekend. This is due to staff leaving and long term sick, I'm a bit gutted as my North West Passage audax next weekend is also a no no and I've already paid.

It also means, if it carries on like this, that I may struggle to get a BRM in for PBP 2015 early registration.

Oh, bad luck!

Let me know if you fancy a local ride in the next few weeks, providing the weather is ok! I still fancy riding to the top of Waddington Fell and back, with a stop at Country Kitchen after coming back off the Fell.

Unlucky, Shaun. I was looking forward to meeting you again . . . & watch you disappear into the distance .

Back in! Op postponed to 8th April. Now, how fixed friendly did you say it was?
Bad that you have to wait for the op, good that you are back in!

I wouldn't describe the route overall as fixed-friendly because of the Trough of Bowland climb plus that short steep one that caught us out after Ribchester last time. Most of the route is though - see the profile in the first post.

Mmm, might have to run a 48 chainring instead of the 50. We have done the Trough the other way round which I recall is steeper, but on gears. Not too worried about the Ribchester climb as it is fairly short. I can't tell from the profile how steep in percentage terms the steepest parts are.

How much does it cost to Oldham?

I would have loved to do this one, even had an offer of a lift but Im riding Barrys Bristol blast on the 30th with a friend who hasnt done an audax (or ridden the distance ) before. After talking him into having a go theres no way I can pull out now :-(

Hope it goes well and the sun shines on you.looking forward to the after ride pics and banter on here.
