The Maltese Falcon

This scene is terrific - amazing too that it's Sydney Greenstreet's first film (he's the fat man)

+++1. I was thinking of Humph in the Maltese Falcon but couldn't decide which scene as the whole lot is a master piece.

A good way to spend a saturday afternoon .

Classic movies?! So many to choose from... Endings are always a good choice, that Ice Cold in Alex one (posted above) certainly sticks in my mind.

Who can forget this one, for all its crankiness, its technical improbability?

"hang on lads, I've got a great idea"...

+1.

Yep Ice Cold in Alex is a classic for the much copied beer scene at the end

but also the longer scene getting the truck up the hill, and when John Mills saves Anthony Quayle from the quicksand when Quayle is trying to use the radio to inform the Germans of their position as he is a traitor. A good old British war film of endeavour against adversity. An indulgent piece of propaganda.

The original Mutiny on the Bounty with Charles Laughton..... lots of brilliantly acted scenes. A good old b/w film to follow after the Maltese Falcon.

I have two.

John Wayne in True Grit, where KIm Darby rides across the river having been refused entry to the ferry. JW says, admiringly 'She reminds me of me!'

In Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, at the end King Richard turns up and it's that well known Englishman Sean Connery! I laughed out loud in the cinema!

I cannot bear to watch that 'Creosote' scene. It's one of the few things that makes me get up and leave the room (I'm glad I never watched Meaning of Life at the cinema  ). But I suppose it appeals to some: I half expected it to be nominated on this thread ;).

One little snippet, a quite insignificant scene in a mediocre film, but it forever sticks in my memory. That 'dartboard' scene early on in An American Werewolf in London. You know what I mean (can't access Youtube at work):
You made me miss .... I've never missed that board before.

Much of the dialogue in the Kill Bill pair.

"Broadsword calling Danny Boy!" Where Eagles Dare.

"Make ready my brave hawkmen" Brian Blessed's incomparable Vultan in Flash Gordon. For some really girly reason, that part of the film always makes me fill up, and I've no idea why ;) Peter Wyngard made a superbly understated Klytus in the same film.

The chase at the beginning of the Daniel Craig Casino Royale, superb.

The parkour chase in District 13, David Belle doing what he does best.

The scene in the deli in Nico where a pre-fatty Steven Segal is kicking seven bells out of four nasty-men.

Lethal weapon three, the PMS-stressed Rene Russo 'sorting' the bad guys.
