Changes worth celebrating, that have happened in my lifetime

We can still travel freely throughout Europe (I presume you mean people rather than freight) Also, why did we have to have passports when we were allowed 'free movement' when we were in the EU?🤔

You can't do what I did: go out, look for a job or apprenticeship in another country and when you get one, be treated as a citizen in that country from day one and live there on the strength of that.

We needed passports in the UK because the UKgov insisted on it. I can travel to France without showing a passport but not the UK.

One of those was my father in law, aged 73.

At his inquest the coroner read out a statement from him describing the work he did in a foundry in the mid seventies, sawing sheets of asbestos to reline the furnace without wearing any PPE.

To be fair, at the time, no one would have known what PPE was.

I have a book, published in the 1960's
It's designed for Scout groups and other youth organisations.
It shows how to make crafts, aeroplanes, pictures, models etc.
All of which involve getting the kids to cut, drill and sand sheet material.
Asbestos sheets!

Not trying to apportion blame with that one, it's just a shame it took so long to find out.

There's a fund set up for victims of it, and in mid 2018 the solicitor who was dealing with my FIL's case said something along the lines of, 'as people are getting older the number of cases is growing, it' s like a ticking time bomb.'

It's still in plenty of older buildings, there's usually an asbestos register showing all the locations, plus warning stickers at the actual location in case you need to do any work that involves breeching the building fabric.

You're also advised to report anything that you suspect as asbestos, trouble is though that if you've already stuck a drill into it and created dust it could be a bit too late.

FFS, cant you people just

leave ONE THREAD free of the same

drivel about Brexit that we can all read in

200 pages of dedicated threads?

Why?
I was just about to say leaving the EU dictatorship, in response to the OPs post.
