Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
No heating here. We used a lot of wood this year as the cold dragged on a bit.

I have a nice cashmere blanket. And if i get a bit cool at night I put it over my legs to keep toasty warm.

We put the heating on for a hour a few days ago but that is all so far

My wife is of the 'I have central heating and I'm not afraid to use it' frame of mind
personally I would put a jumper on - but apparently that is not an acceptable suggestion!

As an extra - I went to a school where the HeadMaster was a very strict Welsh Presbyterian and lived the Head's house in the school grounds with his family

Some years later I was training to be a teacher and the school invited me back - so I got talking to the new Head
Apparently when he started my old Head was just retiring and he showed the new guy around the house so he could decide whether to move in there or buy his own house off site.
The new guy asked about heating
There was a fire in the lounge and 2 radiators 'but we hardly ever use them'
Apparently if they started to feel cold in winter then OPENED ALL THE WINDOWS for a while
then closed them
That apparently makes you body adjust to the colder temperature so when the windows are closed again it feels warmer!!!

They made them tough in the Welsh Valleys in the old days!!!!

With the banning of gas boilers and useless heat pumps and expensive electric boilers we all could be going back to those days again if you ain't well heeled, I'm glad I'm on the way out

. I was talking to someone who installs the heat pumps and he was telling me how useless and expensive they are to run and how people are complaining already about them.

I was talking to the owner who has just spent £13,000 having one fitted he is not impressed, he said they were going to invest in some thermal underwear for the winter to wear indoors.

I'm in my kitchen with my slow cooker on. It generates so much heat in my 10 foot by 6 foot pokey kitchen that i don't have to put my heating on, as the heat spreads into my pokey living room!

We’ve had it on a couple of times so far to take the chill off in the morning.
We have solid walls, no cavity insulation, so try to keep the house at a steady temperature, because once the structure gets cold it is hard to warm it up again.

I government have a major problem on their hands if they want to insulate all homes properly. Our loft is full insulated, we have double glazing, but insulting the walls is a huge job. A few houses in our road have retrofitted external thermal cladding.

Other than flicking it on to check that it fires up mine remains off. The way that autumns seem to be getting milder and milder who knows when mine will go on? Indeed, if it chills ill light the fire in the dining room and save the heating for really prolonged cold snaps.

I have cavity wall and good loft insulation, and over the years have attended to the various draughts and gaps.

It the oven has been on I leave the door open to warm up the house a bit, stuff like that.
