Get on with it!
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9696346 - CC Ecosse: Lochs and Glens, Day 2.

Includes: Towns/possible food stops added as waypoints. Interesting local history sites. Busy crossings annotated.
Even the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog for those who fancy seeing a piece of film history.
Does not include: Strava segments or alternate routes for racing snakes.

I started adding POIs but then I remembered that most Garmins wont include them but I've added waypoints as well which the Garmins will show.

Wait, we're stopping in Newtonmore on day 3? What kind of lilly-livered scaredy cat came up with that idea?

Now that's a fine days cycling, ah the memories:smile:.
Keep a little energy in reserve for some naughty wee climbs between Logierait and Pitlochry and you'll be fine!

I hope you don't need any repairs but if you do there is an excellent friendly bike shop o the main street in Pitlochry.

Yup, those did for me in the Highland Perthshire Challenge. Surprisingly sapping.

Yeah, I know all about Escape Route. Damn fine bunch of lads - fixed my bike after closing time on my first tour after the worst shortcut ever.

CC Ecosse Lochs and Glens: Disappointing* Day 3: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9696664
Some added fun once people's luggage has been dropped off: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9697355

* Disappointing in terms of mileage. What are we going to do with the other 12 hours of daylight? :okay:

CC Ecosse Lochs and Glens: Day 4: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9697896
There are alternate routes from Kingussie to Aviemore and from Boat of Garten to Slochd but if you want to argue their case go right ahead and create your own routes :wahhey:
(I've not annotated this one much because it's a lot less remote than previous days.)

The post with the finalised routes can be seen here: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/cc-ecosse-lochs-and-glens-tour-confirmed.173962/post-3759607

Is bedding and towels provided in hostels, or do I require my sleeping bag and a towel?

Bedding is generally supplied, towels are not so bring your own. I may just double-check the bedding situation next week to be sure...

Right I'm off to Peebles for the Tour o the Borders (@tug benson survived it you know, but doesn't like to talk about it) - try not to fall out with each other before we start! It's a tour, a few surprises/difficulties are what we will remember... :okay:

Re day 3: Plenty of fun to be had once we are checked it, 40 miles touring over an unknown (possibly rough) route in a day will be enough for some people - from memory there was a lack of accommodation options as was.

Day 1 of Islay some people cycled about 15 miles!

Just another thought - it may be worth bringing a folding/inflatable pillow or pillowcase to stuff clothes in as hostels give you one pillow which tends to be wafer thin.

So, what do we need to remember and take on our trip?

Apart from the obvious articles of clothing, I have listed the following: - towel (I bought a microfiber towel that folds into its own pouch, very compact and quick drying), light weight lock, two spare tubes, Mark mentioned a small padlock for lockers, cash, cards, phone, don’t forget your train tickets. I’ve also bought some new ear plugs as I’m a light sleeper and know from last year that some of the guys snore.

Do you think we might need rain jackets? Anything else?

Spent yesterday replacing the rear cassette, chain and chainset. Of course I bought the wrong size of chainset off eBay and had to race into town to get the right size. Why do I always leave these things to the last minute! Gave the bike a quick spin and all seems well. Time will tell over the next three days of my commute to work. Fingers crossed!
Mark, what time do you want to leave Dunfermline? Need to know so that we can work out what time to leave Edinburgh.
