Ref the above, we're very lucky as due to a plentiful supply of scratching posts around the house, furniture and fittings don't warrant their attention, although one of the gateposts in the drive is fairly popular.

Our cat is as good as gold in this respect and limits her claw sharpening to the fence and trees outside ... unlike our old mainecoon who'd stretch out on the carpet, stare at you then tear chunks out of it and get shouted at. I think he saw it as a game

Blocking the cooling vents of a heat-generating bit of kit would be the main problem - and no doubt the appeal the spot has for the cats. If anything evaporative cooling from a wet (within reason) cat would mitigate the problem

Nah the Amps don't get that hot, most of the heat is dissipated by the heatsinks that the transistors are attached to at the back.

Last night at 01:00, whilst sleeping on our bed, our cat got a sudden fright.

She lept up, claws extended, raced to the top of the bed and used my face as a launching pad.

I now have three long gashes, one on my nose, one right under it, and one on my throat. And also two puncture wounds on my right cheek.

After finally stopping the flow of blood and adding four plasters to my face, I managed to get back to sleep again.

This morning?

Stepped in some biscuits she had sicked up right in the middle of the hall runner, and in a dark spot of the house. And sicked up some more in the lounge.

Anyone looking for a cat?
