It would have to be a very small terrier as they struggle to take a cat. I believe there are Wild Eagle owls here after escapees have made good.

So perhaps a few of the handbag dogs could be at risk.

Having had a big owl sat on my arm, albeit marginally smaller than an Eagle Owl, they not nearly as heavy as you'd think, so I do wonder whether it could really pick up a Jack Russell. That said , smaller birds than that take rabbits, so maybe it isn't miles off

I can't remember what kind he was, but they also had an eagle owl who wasn't that much bigger. It was a stall run by an owl sanctuary so you could hold an owl and take a snap for a modest donation

I did hear someone from London zoo telling a story about the mongooses disappearing from their enclosure, and mysteriously bones appearing in the eagle owl's enclosure. It turned out a wild eagle owl was chatting up their captive lady eagle owl and bringing her mongooses as presents. There are a lot mongoose species but apparantly the biggest can be 5kg, but I don't know what the London ones were

Didn't say anything about them taking dogs so I wondered what I was missing.

A Red Kite will not take a dog. They are medium sized for birds of prey - and they are mainly scavengers anyhow. They do also take live prey, but mainly things like voles and mice, only occasionally something as big as a rabbit.
