I've used CRC a lot as they have 1 year free returns policy if you order parts you don't end up using so no rush to send them back, some ebay if CRC don't do it, but that's a load of hassle on returns. Occasionally Wiggle on price match or Evans at a push.
Going 3 x 10 has transformed the bike, It's like riding a different bike with the extra 2 on the rear with a better spread across the gears, although as you say, the 2 teeth step on the flat is when you could do with a 1 tooth step, although flat roads of any significance where I live are few and far between so I'll spin in the easier lower gear rather than power on the higher gear.
