Having driven the little car now with the new slightly larger bore exhaust.

It seems to have a little bit more torque low down. It's happier to pick up speed in top gear from low revs.

It not massive gains being a normally aspirated 1.2ltr 3 cylinder engine, but there is a little bit more. I suspect power has increased but that will be higher up the rev range

Power is torque x rpm so if it has more torque it will be more powerful.

Sadly my veteran Saab is now reaching the end. Whilst it still runs, there is a thermostat or sensor problem, and it's pissing oil out from
both the cam cover and likely head as well - and the oil has contaminated the new drive belt and also harmed some suspension rubbers. Garage recommended getting rid of it and didn't bother charging for quite a thorough assessment.

Got the ball ache of buying another car now!

Can't really complain as I've had it 12+ years and it was only £2500 when I got it. Likely the first 3 owners lost £30k between them and I've done twice as many miles as all of them together. Didn't quite make it to the quarter of a million miles I was hoping for

Tell me about it! Right pain...

Fancy a Saab convertible cheap as chips but a bucket load of pain I guess second only to an Alfa!!🤣

I test drove a 93 convertable and didn't think it nice to drive. I'd previously driven a brand new 93 saloon and didn't like that either so I shouldn't have been surprised. The earlier 900 convertible is really nice though

In what way?
You would think it would be pretty sorted being based in a vauxhall Vectra?!

Hard to describe "nice to driveness" (or the lack of it) but it kind of felt like a small cheap car. The earlier 900 turbo convertable felt taut and classy in comparison.

"nice to driveness" isn't really price related either. Whilst my poorly Saab 95, an originally expensive car, was lovely, so was my mate's mum's lowly Simca 1100 from the early 70, as was our battered works Astra van. Hard to describe though, and some people obviously don't really notice or care else a lot of these cars wouldn't sell.

I had a Saab 2.2 SE. More buttons and dials than a Boeing 747. I loved the hammerhead alloys but that front end is heavy and the thing was a PITA on bendy roads and chomped front tyres like Godzilla on a vulcanised rubber diet.

Bonkers that. I believe it's way cheaper for a custom exhaust for a Ford S-Max than it is to try and buy a standard one.

Needed a rear box for a 2010 petrol turbo Smax, looked like a full custom system was going to be cheaper than the box. Then a friend in the trade got back from his holiday and found one for a fraction of the price. GSF have them, but for some reason didn’t come up when I searched online using the car details.

Got a phone call from daughter last night...Engine light on the Polo and running rough !
Plugged the OBD reader in and got a misfire code.Garage couldn't fit me in and off for Easter so went and bought a coil pack from GSM,109 quid for three ignition coils, spark plugs and some copper grease.
Fitted this afternoon,b@stard to get the plugs out ! but fingers crossed all seemed good...running a lot better.
Only thing is I can't get the OBD reader to connect to the car again ? Was going to check it and turn the engine light of but not having it.Works on the Berlingo so reader must be ok,any ideas.
Anyway daughter is happy and been informed engine light is off.
Thanks dad...see you later 😁

Brake disc shrouds on the MX5 been looking tatty for a while. A rub-down and done Black Smoothrite paint was needed. Good Friday (Giving 4 days non-use to dry) was the day…..

Early dog walk done - I assembled; Jack, paint, lubrication, wet and dry paper, brake cleaner, brushes - and a new set of wheel nuts I’d bought ready for reassembly. The others succumbing to Winter !

Up she came. And the shrouds rubbed down ready. Cleaned and sprayed with brake cleaner / Ciitrus cleaner: ready for paint:

Some rough masking to keep the paint where it’s supposed to be going !! And a thick coat wacked on…..

IMG_9186.jpeg

…….That should see a few years out 😁

Still before 7am. And only 3 corners of this Wagon left to do……👍
