A recent Google News told of a lass who had an 'amazing camping hack' she wanted to share.
So what was that 'amazing camping hack' you ask - ?
Apparently, if you insulate yourself from the ground properly, you'll sleep warm - !
Well whaddya know - ? In sixty years of camping, that's one thing that never occurred to me - !

Also, even if using a camping bed, early season, make sure there is a bit more under you than just the sleeping bag. Found that out ! We use a spare/additional sleeping bag for under the main sleeping bags.

For all you camping/bike packing types

Aw come on. I've spent about 28 nights under canvas this year.
Dr Fegg was very much my era. Brilliant books. Not as "slap stick" as Monty Python TV sketches could be at times, maybe more in the spirit of the Monty Python films. I used to have the "Nasty Book ... but must have lost it.

Whilst Dr Fegg is a lighthearted joke, I do think that beyond a weekend trip comfort is a consideration. I tend to make 2 month solo cycle touring trips camping and take a 2 person tent. Just a bit easier when camping every night plus I'll normally sit out a single rain day. It is more bulk and weight and whilst I dislike hills I do feel the extra weight more than offset by the extra convenience.

The camping sites in New Zealand are far, far superior to anything on this island or the continent. The welcome, the facilities, the campers, the prices, I could go on but see for yourself. Here’s our first nights pitch.
