What he'd local display from top of the moor - it was half hearted stop start affair, glad I wasn't paying a tenner standing in the rain!

I read on the local Facebook gossip, events, take-aways, nail bars lost cats etc page that the very big bangs going off last night were from a couple of pub's 'family displays'. To be fair they started at 6.00 and stopped around 9.30, so we were spared late night explosions.

I saw a few arial displays as I drove along the A14 and, depending where I go today, except ti see a lot more as it's actually the 5th today.
Hamtun Town's fireworks are at the Racecourse this year so tgat side of town will be rammed with cars expecting to park within 100 yards of it.

There are notices up at the park about the cancellation, but I bet that hundreds of people turn up anyway, unaware that there is no display this year.

ours got cancelled too... but because the council claimed £35grand for a 17 minute display was unaffordable this year. On the upside, Light-up Lancaster was a 3 day event instead of 2 this year and that's far more engaging and intriguing than the same old whizz-bang every year.

Our local display is tonight and should be far enough away that our cats won't notice as they are set off from a barge in the middle of the Clyde. The way things are going, it may be the last, so I might go along to support it.

our cat was hid between the chairs last night

i walked my mutt around the local cemetery about 4.30 before it went dark. He was ok 'till what sounded like an anti tank shell went off, then he just froze and wouldn't move. After a bit of on the spot doggie counselling he managed to walk, almost run back to the car. He always has a chew/treat when we get back to the car, but no he just sniffed it and left it. I think he's shell shocked!!

Our 8yo retired guide dog is a bit bang scared so TV left on and volume up to reduce the difference between the ambient noise and bangs...
