Council are allowing no commercial bonfires/firework displays on any of their land this year. Due to the cost!

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Last night there was the annual festival which ended with a firework display in the park. But we didnt go this year. To wet and muddy. I did however hear the fireworks even though machynlleth is 9 miles away. Lots of whizz bang.

Ours is paid for by the village association
Hebden Bridgde one was funded by the entry fee & a few local companies that supplied some of the wood at no cost. Their way of getting rid of what to them was waste they'd have to pay to get rid of normally.
The council "owns" the land where in previous years the fires have been held. Ironically the same council dictated a few years ago where a fire was to be built & lit. One year it was on top of a a gas main laid earlier that year, the following year on top of a newly installed drainage system on the football pitch above.

Me and 100,000 close friends will nip up to the top of our road for the Blackheath Firework display

At least with the expected weather tonight they should be able to keep the numbers down to 100,000 or so.
In 2007 and 08 the numbers were at least twice that, but then the budget was in six figures, from what I hear they've only got £30,000 to blow tonight.

No fireworks here tonight. There is a public display down at the beach scheduled for Tuesday evening, weather permitting and I fully intend to be there.

Brrrr. Frozen.

Went to Nant Hall in Prestatyn. Loads of folk, despite someone setting the bonfire alight at 4 in the morning, the staff had managed to salvage it and rebuild.

Very windy, wet and cold, but the fireworks went on for over 30 minutes. Now warming up in the caravan, using up left over food for supper as we close it for the winter tomorrow. Anyone fancy fish finger and chicken chargrilled sandwiches. Yum.

Horizontal heavy rain and blowing a gale now we are back
