At home comforting my nervy firework scared mutt.
We'll be in Whitby and may see a few fireworks, but nothing planned. I do like a nice Oooooh and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh though.
Have some small fireworks to let off at home, then we are all going to the local football club for a b.i.g. fire.
I was in Barcelona in the summer, they had several fiestas's going on, at the end of one there was massive firework display. A little terrier type thing burst into the display, the area was cordoned off, nobody could go in and get it as the fireworks were exploding out of the ground at random. People were screaming as the dog raced around and kept trying to "eat" the fireworks, but just missing out, it was having the time of it's life, everybody was just waiting for it to "catch" one and get sent to several corners of Spain. That dog provided the best entertainment I saw in any fiesta.
Not helped by the local council either, who last year sent parking enforcement down there, but only after it had started. Our huge local display has been called off after decades of popularity. In recent times, it had dragged in every drunken young person for miles around and descended into public thuggery. The organisers finally bowed to the inevitable.
There are notices up at the park about the cancellation, but I bet that hundreds of people turn up anyway, unaware that there is no display this year. Not helped by the local council either, who last year sent parking enforcement down there, but only after it had started.
Red Tape has finally killed it off!
