Help! I know there's loads of threads on these but Halfords only has 55s as the biggest on its website.

I'm 6'2" - is it worth reserving a Cx como to try or will they really be too small?

Yes, I'm 5'11" and have a 53, so well worth trying

Check tne geometry on the boardman site, they measure differently to others so the 55cm is a different dimension

Best check, but I think the website is quoting the seat tube length, which equates to a 57cm top tube. I'm 6"2 and find it ok.

I was just checking that myself because 55 cm sounds awfully small for someone who is 6' 2". I am 6' 1" and would prefer the 57 cm seat tube frame with the virtual 58.5 cm top tube, but the smaller frame might be ok with a longer stem.

Indeed they do seem to. I ride a 56 Trek road bike so assumed the 55.5 Boardman would be about right. A test ride showed otherwise, felt very stretched. I've ended up with the 53, time will tell if I change the stem as it's still in its box! (I did test ride one first of course..)

I just think it's the way it's measured. With the 57cm top tube I got a shorter stem to get a comfortable reach angle. On a trek bike I measure at 58cm top tube with a long stem.

It is crazy how many different ways they use!

I am not interested in seat tube length because the saddle just goes up or down to suit. The top tube is more important because there is a limit to how much I want to mess with stem length or saddle setback.

The other measurement which I look for is steerer tube (?) length. I am not terribly flexible so don't want too much of a drop to the bars. 7 cm is about my limit and that implies a tube length of about 18 cm with most frames. If the frame is too small, then shoving the saddle up gives too big a drop to the bars.

So there are no more Boardman CX Comps attm in 57.5.

I've emailed to find out timescales but the other option is to squeeze a bit more money out of my meagre budget.

Still under £1k but I've broken it down to either:
1) Canondale CaddX Tiagra or Sora (tho the former has no front eyelets apparently - this right?)
2) Merida Cyclocross 300
3) I may be able to source a Whyte Dorset for under £800
4) Or get the CX Team - again no eyelets

Thoughts?

Not sure, but there are often deals on outgoing models

Now depending on your height and I know you don't like Evans but...

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/croix-de-fer-2014-cyclocross-bike-ec052633

Or how about looking at Swift in Spitalfields

http://www.swiftcycles.co.uk/projects/2014-cdf-84900

Got the Vapour too

http://www.swiftcycles.co.uk/projects/2014-vapour-99900

Apex on Clapham High St sell Genesis too, and Whyte

http://www.apexcycles.com/

Presumably there's flex in the budget ;)

Considering I've had yet another spoke go you quite right about Evans

Budget is fairly flexible but once you look at above 800, the peripheries quickly send you above 1k which I'm trying to avoid
