Hi to all. I hope you've had a good day.
Cycling computers. hmmm .I'm in two minds as to wether I
I like them or not. I've got one fitted and seem to become transfixed on watching every detail of my performance
instead of actually enjoying the ride out. If my average speed drops I feel compelled to put the extra energy in to l
lift back up. It almost becomes obsessive making my ride out less of a way of of enjoyment outing and more of a rush
Does anybody else feel the same way about these computers or is it just me lol :-))

Get a Garmin and ignore it. Then upload the data later. Dead simple. Enjoy the ride.

I always use a Garmin. Records everything so I can get on with the ride. Then work out why I may not have been going well. I even use it when pottering about, which is the only riding I'm doing at the moment (recovering from a serious spinal fracture).

I use a Garmin watch, it records the ride details but as its on my wrist I tend not to look at it on the move.

I've been using one for decades, I tend to look at it occasionally during the ride then look at the distance when I get home. I've never used a Garmin.

I just use a Cateye Velo 7, which gives me enough information about the ride that I know how far and fast I've gone but not to the point of excluding the enjoyment of the road and the scenery.

I've also got a Garmin, but most of the time I have it just showing current speed, total distance and time of day while it records the ride in the background for me to look at later.
It's too easy to spoil a pleasant ride out by constantly feeling up against the clock - no problem if that's your thing, but I don't need it all the time.

I have just got a Garmin Edge 25 after having a £5 version fitted before. All I have set up is speed distance and time the rest just does its thing in the background. The only time I look down at it is to see my overall distance.

Once winter is here I will be adding a speed/cadense sensor so I can track my indoor training but again it won't be looked at other than distance.

On a plus note the battery on my phone was hardly touched last weekend on a 50 mile ride as opposed to the previous weeks 35miles ride using strava where I finished the ride with 1% battery.

I get lost very easily so use my Garmin 520 to load routes to follow. Unless I choose to scroll through to the sensors etc. I only see a little map and then upload at home to see how I did later.

Since I am forced to pootle at the moment after an injury, I am really enjoying taking in the views rather than trying to go faster on a segment or whatever. Just what the doctor ordered.
