I have seen washing up liquid turn red cars pink:eek:
I wonder if it could turn a pink car white?

Be sure and use a good wax on the bike after drying, unless it is carbon fiber. Only because I have no idea about carbon fiber, not that wax would necessarily be bad.

If your bike has a bare, uncoated carbon surface (in which case send it back) then I might agree. However, 100% of all carbon bikes sold come with either a transparent gel coat, and/or a paint finish. Because of that, it is ok to treat a carbon frame in exactly the same way as any other frame material with a painted finish.

My understanding is that washing up liquid is abrasive.

You've obviously never done the washing up. How many housewives (or househusbands) would be happy washing their best china or their Mauviel pots and pans in an abrasive solution? Rub a drop between your fingertips and you will see that it isn't abrasive.

My red Skoda is gradually turning pink. I think the problem is the fact I haven't washed the car at all for the past 9 months. It really needs a good T Cut session to restore the red but I just can't get round to it. I have other things to waste my time on!

BikerJoe inspired me. I went over my bike with baby wipes today. It will need the full treatment soon though.

If really caked in chocolate, I usually spray with Muck off, use old toothbrush to get into the nook and crannies, degrease the chain. Re-lube chain with a wet lube in winter, and spray the shiney parts and frame with a water displacement and wipe off. Don't use a pressure washer, especially if its a MTB with shocks and forks

I wax the frame with a car wax when new then the muck comes off a lot easier, muck-off works well but is an expensive way to clean your bike if you do a lot of miles like me so I use car shampoo.
