There is no "best" whisky, just as there is no best book or best golf club to buy for a Christmas gift .
You would need to ask the recipient which whisky best suits their palate:smile:.

PS If it's for me, Highland Park would be fine, thanks.

puzzled as to why you think there is a "best" whisky for a cyclist.

I would not thank you for buying me any whisky - can't stand the stuff and wouldn't drink it.

Buy what your mate likes not because someone tells you its best for a cyclist as there is no correlation between being a cyclist and what type of drink they may like

Let’s be pedantic. Glengoyne which distillery I knew well never produced whiskey. It produces whisky. Whiskey is Irish.

If your friend likes whisky, they will have preferences, so there's no point buying one randomly.
If your friend doesn't like whisky, there's no point buying one at all.

Mine's a Hibiki, please.

Storm ? Skye ?
.
The 10 year has a much greater flavour than the Storm or Skye and is usually cheaper. The whisky companies have pulled a blinder by selling NAS whisky and charging a greater price for it.
Take Johnnie Walker Double black, a younger whisky than their 12 yr old black label but they charge almost twice the price.
Back to Talisker, my favourites are either
57’ North or their 18 year old
